Not long ago when the Facebook Timeline was first announced, Mark Zuckerberg said that early on in its life it would be totally optional to people whether or not they wanted to have the new addition to the site. However, Zuckerberg did say that at some point in the future, he was going to make the Facebook Timeline mandatory for all users that are a part of the social network. He did not say when, but it does seem like that time is finally upon us, as it is now officially a two-week countdown until it rolls out for everyone.
There are also some new cool features to go along with the “new” Facebook, which makes sharing your personal life with everyone on the internet even easier. For example, before now, you were only limited to having the years on which you were a Facebook user displayed. But now, with a new addition being made to the feature, you can rewind the clocks all the way back to even before Facebook was around, and start uploading relevant photos and other information for that period. The feature for the site also includes a new thing called “life events”, where you can document big events that took place during that time; like an important vacation or a sweet job that you landed.
Timeline Lets You, Among Other Things, Post About Times When You Didn’t Have Facebook
When Facebook originally announced the Timeline, it was, almost unexpectedly at this point, greeted with quite a fair share of criticism. And even though they have worked since then to add a little bit more security and privacy in the site, it seems that some of these new additions to the Timeline may be working against that. Especially with a highly speculated Facebook IPO coming up, the company is looking to reduce as much negative attention on the website that would potentially worsen their appearance in investors’ eyes.
They’ll be doing so in a way that is making it easier to learn everything about you. Still, to an extent, the Timeline has to be filled out only by you, so it is ultimately up to you if you want to give out more information than you already are about yourself.
